What types of drums do you offer?
We offer several types of industrial drums, including new and reconditioned drums, UN-rated, lined and unlined steel & poly drums, open-head and tight-head drums. We have the drums you need for storing & shipping chemicals, food ingredients, hazardous waste, lubricants, or general-purpose materials. What is a UN-rated drum? Do I need one?
A UN-rated drum is one that meets the United Nations’ safety standards for packaging hazardous materials. To earn that rating, the drum has to pass tests for drops, pressure, stacking, and leakproof integrity. Applications that involve packaging hazardous materials, even milder hazardous liquids or solids, may be legally required to use UN-rated drums. McManus offers a full selection of UN-rated steel drums that meet all DOT and UN compliance standards.
What’s the difference between open-head and tight-head drums?
Open-head drums are great for solids, sludges, and other materials to which frequent access is needed. These drums use a full removable lid that is secured by a ring.
Tight-head drums are perfect for liquids where secure, leak-proof containment is a top priority. These have a permanent top with bung openings.
We stock both types of drums in many sizes, gauges, and lining options.
What sizes are available?
We stock drums in a wide range of sizes, but the most common sizes purchased are:
- 55 gal. drums (our most popular).
- 30 gal. drums.
- 20 gal. drums.
- 5 gal. steel pails.
If you need something different like 85 gal. salvage drums or unique volume capacities, we can usually source or recommend alternatives based on your specific application.
Do you offer lined drums?
Yes. We offer epoxy phenolic, phenolic, and other industry-standard linings depending on the product being stored. Linings are typically recommended for:
- Water-based materials.
- Food products.
- Corrosive or reactive chemicals.
- Materials that may react with bare steel.

What gauge steel do your drums use?
We offer drums in a range of gauges depending on the durability your application needs. Heavier gauge steel is less likely to dent and less prone to transport damage and stacking stress. We can help you find the right gauge for your material, shipping method, and specific handling environment.
Can you help me stay compliant with DOT regulations?
We can advise you on which UN ratings are available, but the responsibility for choosing the correct UN rating for your specific material is on the material generator, and the packer. Consult your material manufacturer or generator for the recommended UN rating for your specific material.
Do you offer reconditioned drums?
Yes. Reconditioned drums are an affordable, environmentally friendly choice for many applications. Our reconditioned open-head and tight-head drums meet the strictest safety and DOT standards. These drums are an ideal choice if you’re working within a budget or you want to improve your facility’s sustainability.
What are your delivery options?
Our delivery options are very flexible, depending on your order size and location. Our logistics team coordinates every shipment for you, from single-pallet shipments to entire truckloads. We can usually work with tight deadlines or recurring needs.
Can I place small orders?
We’re happy to support your operation, whether you need just one drum or an entire truckload. Many of our customers order small quantities to test products before making the decision to scale up.
